Survey: What will be the biggest impact of WLTP on the automotive market by the end of 2018?
31 August 2018
From 1 September 2018, all new vehicles sold in Europe must be compliant with the Worldwide Harmonised Light-Vehicle Test Procedure, which has been a requirement for all new type-approvals since 2017.
Some manufacturers have had no issues with becoming WLTP compliant across their fleet, with PSA Group and Ford amongst those stating they are ready. Others, however, are suggesting there are challenges ahead.
Autovista Group wants to know what will be the biggest impact that the introduction of WLTP fleetwide will have on the automotive market by the end of 2018. Will the test affect the levels of stock available for the rest of the year? Alternatively, will a financial impact be the biggest problem for manufacturers? Will WLTP cause an abnormality in vehicle registrations, with pre-reg causing a summer boom, or will sales suffer due to confusion about the increase in emissions figures published with vehicles?
