Autovista Group Survey - Manufacturers from which continent will win the race to electrification?
11 May 2018
Manufacturers are pushing to develop electric vehicles (EVs) and more efficient hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, in response to government regulations and strict CO2 emission rules.
While some companies are already marketing models, others, with bigger budgets and resources, are pushing hard to catch up and overtake. There are also a handful of companies being left behind as they attempt to steady themselves financially.
Existing models are not setting the market alight with sales as, especially with EVs, they don’t offer the range or efficiency that motorists need. Therefore the development race is hotting up, with solid-state batteries and other new technologies being brought in to help electrified vehicles become mainstream.
Autovista Group wants to know which continent will break the mass market barriers globally. Will Asia, which already has a lead in hybrid technology, continue its trajectory thanks to its battery manufacturing expertise? Or will European companies with bigger budgets and government support, be able to sprint past. Will US carmakers also get in on the act as they push to reduce CO2 emissions?
